Vintage Tanifuji Maxfli 1800 + 4/8″ Tanifuji Maxfli Dot Japanese straight razor set in NOS condition w/ Original Boxes!

This is a Tanifuji Maxfli “Duet” of two razors. The 6/8″ 1800 for the major areas of the face and a 4/8″ Dot which is designed for detail work.

The larger Maxfli 1800 blade is in NOS condition. The smaller one is not NOS, but in great shape. Together they make a perfect pair.

With the smaller blade, you can tackle tight areas with ease. Get under the nose, around the edges of the mouth, near the ears, and even detail the edges of your mustache or beard.

These razors were designed and manufactured by the legend and master Fukutaro Tanifuji who taught Mr. Iwasaki the craft of scaling and finishing razors. At one point, Tanifuji was an important production partner of Iwasaki western straights. His stamp is the kanji on the rear of the tang. This is one of those razors where you can see that legendary Tanifuji quality coming though. He used the incredible high carbon Swedish “silver steel” of a high purity and fine grain. You can see the deep shine of the steel which is a characteristic of Swedish steel Tanifuji blades. It was then heat tempered to the ideal hardness for a smooth shaving edge.

Needless to say these razors shave like a dream. Also, the thickness of the spine on a Tanifuji razor is greater than most Japanese razors. This both adds to the performance of the blade and is another testament of his dedication to quality. A Tanifuji of this caliber is a must for any collection!
