Vintage Eiko Yasuki Tamahagane Steel Japanese Straight Razor

This incredible Eiko straight razor is made of Hitachi Yasuki Steel which is the modern Hitachi metals version of Tamahagane steel made from iron sand. Essentially it is one of the highest quality steels made in Japan due to its very high carbon content and extremely fine grain. Classically it would take a Japanese blacksmith days without sleep to produce a small amount of this treasured material. The purity of this steel allows for a very sharp edge that will hold its sharpness longer than other steels.

From a design standpoint, this Eiko is one of the most unique mashups between a Japanese Kamisori and a European style wedge. This near wedge grind has the weight and power of a wedge with the ability to produce a close shave like a hollow ground razor. The scales have a really interesting curve and swirling deep emerald pattern that captures the eye as well. This is a phenomenal shaver. Be careful, Yasuki steel shaves so well it can become addictive. This will assuredly be one of your favorite razors in your rotation!
